Course Overview
This workshop guides participants through the entire project lifecycle, putting AI into practice to accelerate and enhance every stage from initiation to closeout. Each module follows a consistent arc: Defining why a project stage is challenging, identifying where AI adds value, demonstrating a working prompt, and completing a hands-on lab to produce a tangible project artifact. Roughly two-thirds of class time is spent in labs, and every participant leaves with a personal prompt library and an AI adoption plan.
Participants will learn how large language models work and identify project tasks where AI-generated output requires human review. They will practice writing and refining prompts to produce useful project artifacts, develop an AI usage policy addressing confidentiality, data handling, disclosure, and accountability, and use AI to create key project management deliverables, including a charter, scope statement, schedule, risk register, and closeout report.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for Project and Program managers, PMO staff, and project team leads. No technical background is required. No prior AI experience is needed.
To participate fully in the hands-on exercises, participants should:
- Have access to an AI tool approved by their organization or IT/compliance team.
- Because participants will work with AI tools during the course, they should follow their organization's policies regarding confidential, proprietary, personal, or otherwise sensitive information.
Course Objectives
- Understand what a large language model does and identify the project tasks where its output cannot be trusted without review
- How to write and iteratively refine prompts that produce usable project artifacts rather than generic text
- Experience drafting a one-page AI usage policy covering confidentiality, data handling, disclosure, and accountability
- Master producing a charter, scope statement, schedule, risk register, and closeout report with AI assistance, and critique each for the failure modes AI introduces
- Build a personal prompt library and a scheduled 30/60/90-day adoption plan
